Heating and plumbing

Among the factors that often endanger the quality of drinking water and the efficiency of a heating system are, in addition to improper routing of the cold and hot water pipes, an insufficient or missing insulation. This also applies to pipe fittings, valves, flanges or pipe fastenings where the insulation may be missing at certain points. If this is the case, excessive energy losses can occur before the heat has even reached its destination. In addition, the legal requirements for drinking water are no longer met and health risks can arise.
Practical experience shows that mistakes made during planning and execution, and later during operation and maintenance, can lead to a significant impairment of energy efficiency and drinking water quality. Since the pipes are usually difficult to access in installation shafts, in pre-wall installations or concealed, measures of rectification usually become quite labour-intensive and costly.

Therefore, correct insulation in accordance with legal requirements for energy saving must be ensured right at the start of the project. This is particularly true when cold and hot water pipes run through a common supply duct for structural reasons. Conversely, hot water pipes must be protected against the effects of cold pipes.
The insulation of the complete pipe network, the distributors and shut-off valves as well as solar connection pipes can be realised quickly, easily and cost-effectively with the easy-to-process and tested Kaiflex and Kaifoam insulation systems - this will pay off quite often just after one or two heating seasons. Extensive and coordinated accessories such as tapes, adhesives, etc. make installation even easier. At the same time, the insulation materials provide effective sound insulation by reducing the transmission of flowing and cracking noises to adjacent building components.

Insulation materials in the maritime environment have to meet particularly high requirements. During an intercontinental crossing, they have to withstand both icy temperatures in Nordic waters and tropical environmental influences within a very short time without losing their insulating function.
