Also known as closed cell elastomeric foam insulation, abbreviated also frequently as FEF, or rubber insulation, elastomeric foam insulation is basically a synthetic rubber composed of a closed cell structure available in factory made tubes, sheets or rolls.

How does we make elastomeric foam insulation?

Elastomeric closed cell foam insulation is made in 3 steps…

Elastomeric closed cell foam insulation is manufactured on from different types of rubber. At Kaimann, the basic products are based on NBR rubber. For special applications, products based on EPDM or CR are also manufactured.
All products follow the same manufacturing process, the raw materials are put together in a large mixer. There, so-called master batches are produced, which can be compared with ready-made baking mixtures.Just before the material is extruded again and then runs into the furnace, the blowing agent is added. The shape is then heated in an oven, which changes the chemical foaming agent from a solid to a gas. At this time, thousands of tiny air pockets (cells) form, connected to each other. Then it is carefully cooled to ensure that these cells remain intact and do not break, maintaining the closed cell structure of the material. Finally, it is cut to size and packaged for shipping.
We has developed a specific granulate technology which guarantees the highest product quality and precise dimensions: halting the process at a certain point and turning the material into rubber granulate prevents premature reaction of the material and almost completely eliminates the shrinkage effect after production.
