Product benefits
The all-purpose insulation material Kaiflex HT s2 not only minimises heat and energy loss, but also provides reliable fire protection pursuant to the updated German Technical Building Rules (MVV TB). It therefore excels in two equally important areas, making it the ideal choice for developers who value good energy efficiency as well as adherence to high safety standards.
The challenge of energy efficiency
If pipes, valves, flanges or pipe supports are poorly or not continuously insulated, heat loss can be excessively high. In residential buildings or workspaces, this means energy is already lost before the heat even reaches its destination. For this reason, insulation plays a central role in energy efficiency by keeping heat where it belongs. Kaimann is continually improving its Kaiflex products to meet increasing demands for energy savings, without losing sight of important aspects like room climate, dependable product quality, fire safety and ease of application.
High performance and versatility
The result: Kaiflex HT s2, a universally usable insulation for interior drinking water, hot and cold water pipes as well as heating pipes, in residential and commercial buildings. The extensive product range offers solutions for all applications addressed by the German Energy Saving Ordinance (GEG). For example, in Application Area A it can be used with 100% insulating layer thickness in unheated cellars. Thanks to its good heat insulation – constant heat conductivity across all dimensions λ is +40°C ≤0.040 W/(m·K) – Kaiflex HT s2 can significantly reduce the energy costs of a building simply through insulating the accessible pipework. At the same time, the low heat conductivity ensures that the defined temperatures for cold water pipes (DIN 1988-200) and hot water pipes (DIN EN 806-2) are safely maintained, preventing the growth of legionella bacteria. Free from CFC and H-CFC gases as well as fibres, Kaiflex HT s2 also satisfies elevated hygienic requirements and contributes to a positive room climate.
The grey tube material with its closed-cell structure acts as a water vapour barrier, preventing the formation of condensation and thereby reducing the risk of CUI (corrosion under insulation). Thanks to its antimicrobial properties, the insulation needs no additional biocides and provides effective protection against mould and bacteria growth (Eurofin-certified). Furthermore, Kaiflex HT s2 reduces unwanted flow and tap noises of fluids in pipes.
The challenge of fire protection
The requirements for limiting smoke development have become more stringent across Europe. The new Technical Building Rules (MVV TB) mandate that flame-retardant building products used in construction requiring approval, such as new construction or renovations and changes to existing structures, fulfil the new minimum requirement C/CL-s2, d0. With Kaiflex HT s2, Kaimann offers dependable fire protection. This insulation material in construction material class CL-s2, d0 develops only small amounts of smoke, is self-extinguishing and doesn’t drip off burning, and so in every category meets the requirements of the tightened definition of “flame-retardant” products pursuant to the revised Technical Building Rules (MVV TB).
Easy installation
Kaiflex HT s2 is offered in three versions for small diameter pipes – endless tube, standard 2 m tube, and self-adhesive 2 m tube. Even in difficult situations, it installs quickly and is easy to work with, which is especially helpful when making special shapes and fittings.
