Kaiflex Protect F-BLACK is a combination of high-performance Kaiflex rubber and a woven glass-fibre coating with a black finish. The material is used for the technical insulation of ducts and for pipes in interior cooling and air conditioning applications, as well as indoor and outdoor industrial applications. Kaiflex Protect F-BLACK is especially suitable for situations where appearance matters most, for example open installs with visible pipes or ductwork. This makes the material appealing for planners and building owners alike.

The black surface protection of this sheet and tube material has very high tensile elongation and elongation at break. This gives insulation and pipes excellent protection from mechanical damage, and from UV radiation and weather effects when used outdoors.

The coating also makes Kaiflex Protect F-BLACK ideal for use in food manufacturing when applied with full coverage. This ensures that installs are food-grade, and prevents impairment of flavour and aroma of foods by direct contact with the material. In addition, the material can be wiped down and is resistant to a wide range of chemicals used in industrial processing.

Less is more

Using Kaiflex Protect F-BLACK saves space and insulating material, while also reducing installation time and costs. The reason is that with conventional insulation cladding, the surface temperature is substantially higher than the F-BLACK coating. That means there has to be an air gap between insulation and cladding so that connectors like screws and rivets do not damage the insulation. Both of these mean that the insulation has to be thicker to provide sufficient insulating performance and condensation protection. With Kaiflex Protect F-BLACK there is no need for this higher insulation thickness or the air gap. This is enhanced by the black colour and resulting higher heat transfer coefficient. 

Easy installation

Kaiflex Protect F-BLACK comes with the coating already applied, making this insulation particularly user-friendly. While conventional claddings need to be applied manually after the insulation has been installed, and require supporting structures in industrial use, none of this is necessary with Kaiflex Protect F-BLACK. The elastomer insulation can be flexibly adapted to installation geometries at the site, making cutting to shape off-site unnecessary. Colour-matched accessories like Kaiflex Protect F-BLACK Tape, Sealant and a self-adhesive overlap on the tube material further simplify proper installation.
