R-FORCE: Compression Resistant Elastomeric Insulation.
Closed cell moisture resistant Kaiflex insulation has always provided long lasting protection for pipework against corrosion and energy loss with a soft flexible structure that is ideal for insulating pipework in commercial projects. Whether its insulating complex pipe runs in a plant room, flow and return pipes above corridors and behind walls or even roof mounted chiller equipment or ductwork, Kaiflex is used extensively almost everywhere on Earth… but not often below it.
Still, there are pipes to be found in just that area. Buried pipework for district heating or pipelines to name but a few.
Kaimann has long sought to combine the best aspects of this flexibility and inherent thermal performance together with a stronger and more robust cell structure that offers better resistance against compression and protection against mechanical damage. R-FORCE, a new development from Kaimann, realises this ambition by retaining all of the properties you would expect from Kaiflex insulation whilst also providing a much stronger physical structure. The enhanced level of compression resistance means R-FORCE is the first flexible elastomeric foam that can be used in applications traditionally reserved for high density rigid foams. In particular the high compressive strength makes it possible to use R-FORCE on buried pipework like district heating and water supply pipes.
Buried pipework is a challenging area of application at any time. The pipes are difficult to access as well as exposed to moisture and water. So once the project is finished buried pipes should remain just that: Buried.
R-FORCE was designed to help achieve that as it is inherent moisture and water vapour resistant with a mechanically resistant surface that protects insulation from mechanical impact that can break or shatter insulation.
This is as true for the insulation material applied as it is for the pipework itself. R-FORCE is designed to prevent moisture ingress, keeping the insulation dry and ensuring consistent thermal performance over time by combining the physical strength needed for buried applications together with an inherently high level of flexibility, R-FORCE avoids both damage by compression and damage by impact. The flexible foam structure is not brittle at all and will never experience cracks and breakages following impact. As a result R-FORCE is an incredibly reliable and easy to maintain insulation system that can be used to prevent energy loss and protect pipework for many years.
