Save energy and reduce your fuel bills

As winter finally begins to retreat there's one last nasty surprise in store - your heftiest fuel bill of the year. Every year more and more homeowners take advantage of a clever trick to dramatically reduce this bill and save money.

The number one technology

When it comes to energy saving the number one most effective technology available today is, by a long way, insulation. A well-insulated home will stay warmer for longer and require a fraction of the energy needed to heat the building than a less well-insulated home.

Of course increasing the levels of insulation for existing buildings is often difficult and sometimes impossible. Since studies suggest that up to 74% of all of the homes that will be standing in 2050 have already been built structural insulation will never be an option when it comes to reducing energy bills for everyone.

There is, however, one insulation technology that comes to the rescue for older buildings.

Pipe Insulation

Pipe insulation is important for all buildings but is especially valuable for saving energy in existing buildings where energy lost from pipework will often be completely lost through badly insulated walls and not retained and used to help heat the rooms as it might in a new build.

The poorer levels of structural insulation also have a second knock on effect that makes pipe insulation even more attractive. Older buildings generally need to use heating systems that operate at higher temperatures because of the large amounts of heat that are lost through the walls.

Higher pipe temperatures generate much higher energy losses and, as a consequence, present much higher potential energy savings. Insulation on a pipe operating at 75°C will be far more cost effective and pay back the initial investment in far less time than insulation on a pipe operating at 50°C.

Kaifoam PE

Once a homeowner realises just how much energy can be saved by insulating pipework they almost always head to the shops. Knowledge is the best tool when it comes to getting the right products and the best deals which is why Kaimann strongly promotes Kaifoam PE.

Available through our retail partners, Kaifoam PE is a cost effective Polyethylene foam that has excellent thermal energy saving properties, is easy to install and will provide amongst the shortest payback periods of any pipe insulation.
