When the train is full to capacity, the ambient air in particular must be conditioned continuously. This means that air ducts must be protected against heat losses and condensation must be prevented from developing on components . Their outstanding thermal values make Kaiflex insulation materials the ideal complement to the carriage ventilation system. The elastomers are dust- and fibre-free, moisture-resistant and prevent the development of bacteria that can be distributed to the carriages by the ventilation.
Fresh water of a consistent quality must be available at all times for sanitary facilities and the onboard restaurant. To ensure this, the water temperature must be maintained continuously and the development of pathogens such as Legionella prevented. Kaiflex insulation materials offer excellent protection against the development of mould and bacteria. Jacketing of the tank prevents the formation of condensate and corrosion as well as guaranteeing a constant water temperature.
To be able to create the most comfortable and pleasant environment for passengers during the journey, a constant ambient climate must be ensured and external noise reduced to a minimum. Kaiflex insulation materials provide both thermal and acoustic insulation between the wall shells. The closed-cell structure and flexibility of Kaiflex rail LSLT tubular material makes it perfect for insulating supply lines efficiently.
In the event of a fire, pipe leadthroughs between carriages are a significant potential hazard. The fire can spread to the next compartment and thus propagate rapidly. In the event of a fire, Kaiflex railCLAD expands and closes holes such as wall leadthroughs and shields them. The halogen- and heavy-metal-free materials prevent the development of toxic gases.
To use the energy supplied to the carriage economically, air routing systems must be insulated efficiently. The closed-cell structure of Kaiflex rail products and their resultant low thermal conductivity make a significant contribution to reducing heat losses sustainably. The insulation material also prevents the development of condensation and mould and suppresses the flow noise of the heating system inside the carriage.
Due to the relatively high air humidity in the passenger carriage and the temperature difference between the carriage and outside, condensation collects on the floor of the carriage, which causes rust to develop. The moisture resistance and closed-cell structure of Kaiflex rubber insulation materials combined with drainage keep the materials dry and prevent corrosion from forming under the insulation.
